Indiegogo Campaign

If you follow me on Twitter (@JustinSpaulding) you have noticed tweets about our project, Vet24seven and its upcoming Indiegogo campaign (beginning a week from today, October 21st).

Let me give you the quick & dirty on some very exciting news!  I am going to do this in two sections. 1) What is Vet24seven? 2) What the hell is Indiegogo anyways?

1) What is Vet24seven?

Vet24seven revolutionizes pet healthcare by making your smart phone your pet’s veterinary advice portal. And here’s how it works:

1. Open the app on your mobile device and select your personal or next available veterinarian from the Vet24seven Network to respond to your concern or question.

2. Select a desired time frame for a response to your inquiry and the method in which you would like to communicate.

3. Upload a photo and/or video of your concern, and provide a description.

4. Send it off to be answered by a Vet24seven veterinarian. The veterinarian receives your message, evaluates your request and responds via the app with a written response or live chat, and instructions (e.g., written, photos, video) for a home-based course of action or recommendation for a vet visit, if necessary. This is called a v-consult (virtual consult).

5. Receive your answer on whether or not the pet should be seen immediately in person.

2) What the hell is Indiegogo anyways?

Indiegogo is a crowdfunding platform where people, who want to raise money for their projects, can create fundraising campaigns to tell their story and get the word out. People contribute to campaigns for many reasons, but usually it’s because they want to be involved in what the campaign is doing or because they want the rewards that are part of the campaign.

Vet24seven’s goal is to raise $50,000 throughout our 45 day campaign, be sure to checkout, back and then share our project with your friends and social media followers!

MORE TO COME IN THE FOLLOWING DAYS!

Eight Months & I

My earlier post, “Journey Comes After Start” made me want to share an example.

At the turn of the year, into 2013, I thought it would be a really fun project to create a functional, mobile app.  My problem?  I really had no idea where to start.

I previously had and still do not have any knowledge of computer programming.  I only have a rough understanding of HTML, CSS, PHP, Java, etc, etc.  So, I started where I was at.

I began by sharing my thoughts.  This is key, if you hold an idea to yourself you have no support, no team.  It takes a team of great and talented people to do great things.

I talked to my dad.  He was excited about the thought of creating an app for one of our businesses, but he also has no computer programming background.  So we started reaching out to others, we kept sharing what we wanted to do.

We discussed the project with many people.  A gentlemen from San Diego, and another in southern Wisconsin told us it would be nearly impossible to create what we wanted.

We then mentioned the idea to a current employee.  She said her nephew had a lot of experience in computer programming – he used to do work for the military.  So we set a meeting.

He told us he could do it.  Here is where it got fun.

As development began and we started to make progress we shared the beginnings of our app, SkeePet, with a business partner in Colorado.  He then shared it with a friend in Silicon Valley.  This “friend” ended up being a tech guru and he liked our ambition, and our project – he asked us to join him on one of his projects; Vet24seven.

By starting from where I was, where we were; having nothing, we now are Founders of two different apps – one of which our partner is from the tech center of the world.

As we continue to make process with both apps, October 8th is the date we have picked out to launch a crowd funding campaign for Vet24seven.  This launch will include a 3 city launch party, a celebrity and a campaign on Indiegogo.com.

I only shared the last 8 months of my app development experience, but in that time I have also built a business that brings me $1,200 to $1,500 per month PART TIME (click here, I can help you do it too) and bought a four-unit apartment building.  All because in every area – I started where I was.  What will the next 8 months bring!?

I will continue to share progress with you, and more information on our 3 city launch party on October 8th will be brought to you over the next four weeks.
